Series configuration will require input voltage approx 14.4v. A higher voltage will be required if driving with a buck driver such as Bflex, RCD24-70, RCD24-35, 302x series Buckpuck

If you have a power source less than this then Boost drivers are the best option such as Maxflex3, Fatman, CutterBoost When using Boost drivers its is recommended to always heatsink the driver board

XLamp MC-E Dynamic White Led. This leds allows you to tune the cool/white corners to acheive a beautiful blended colour range from 2700k to 6500K

High-Lumen Output in a Small Form Factor

The XLamp MC-E LED is a lighting-class, multi-chip LED that provides high lumen output, color consistency and and multi-color packaging flexibility in a small-footprint package. The XLamp MC-E LED is available with EasyWhite™ 2-step and 4-step bins, which improve LED-to-LED color consistency and reduce manufacturing complexity. Compared to discrete LEDs, XLamp MC-E LEDs reduce the distance between LED die, creating a small optical source for excellent optical control and efficient color mixing.

13th February 2013:  Cree Sets New R&D Performance Record with 276 Lumen-Per-Watt Power LED DURHAM, NC -- Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) delivers another industry first with a barrier-breaking 276 lumen-per-watt white R&D power LED. This significant milestone exceeds Cree’s previous R&D industry record of 254 lumens per watt and demonstrates Cree’s continued commitment to innovate and accelerate the adoption of LED lighting.

Cree’s innovative SC³ Technology™ Platform, available today in Cree XLamp® LEDs, enables this record-breaking R&D result. The SC³ Technology Platform features advancements in LED chip architecture and phosphor and boasts a new package design to deliver the most advanced LED components in the industry.

Cree reports that the LED efficacy was measured at 276 lumens per watt, at a correlated color temperature of 4401 K and 350 mA.

“The core of the Cree R&D culture is a relentless focus on innovation that ultimately drives LED adoption,” said John Edmond, Cree co-founder and director of advanced optoelectronics. “The innovation from our labs is the foundation for our lighting-class XLamp LEDs. Higher-performance LEDs can enable new and better LED-based applications and drive down the solution cost of LED designs.”

30th November 2011 DURHAM, N.C., October 25, 2011  Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE), a market leader in LED lighting, announces the commercial availability of high-voltage XLamp XT-E and XM-L LEDs. These new LEDs can enable the use of more efficient, smaller drivers to lower cost for compact lighting applications such as candelabras and retrofit lamps.

The XLamp XM-L High-Voltage LED eliminates the trade-off between size and efficacy, allowing us to take advantage of the efficacy of high-voltage drivers, said Ken Chakravarti, chief technology officer, Ledzworld. This translates to more efficient, better and more cost-effective small LED lamps and luminaires such as the B10 replacement lamp for our customers.

Small-form-factor lighting, like candelabras, historically presented a host of challenges for LED technology. Prior LEDs were unable to deliver the required system-level performance in the form factor consumers demand.

Maximizing the LED voltage, as Cree has done in the new high-voltage XM-L and XT-E LEDs, is a very effective way to minimize current through the LED driver output rectifier, said Peter Vaughan, director of applications engineering, Power Integrations, Inc. This can reduce losses and heat dissipation in the driver and increase the overall system luminous efficacy by several percentage points.

Never before have lighting OEMs been able to leverage the benefits of high-voltage LEDs with this level of performance, said Paul Thieken, Cree director of marketing, LED components. We continue to develop the right LEDs for the right applicationsto accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient LED lighting.

The XLamp XM-L LED delivers up to 600 lm in Cool White (6000 K) and up to 462 lm in Warm White (3000 K) at 6 W, 85C. The XLamp XT-E LED delivers up to 300 lm in Cool White (6000 K) and up to 228 lm in Warm White (3000 K) at 3 W, 85C. Both LEDs have a typical voltage of 46 V at binning conditions.

XLamp XT-E and XM-L LEDs are available now in production quantities with standard lead times. For more information about Cree high-voltage LEDs, please visit www.creehighvoltage.com.
