Aluminium PCB for High-Density LED Applications: MCPCB-XEG-4821LIN
Overview
Designed for versatility and high performance, the MCPCB-XEG-4821LIN Aluminium PCB is tailored to support 4 XEG high-brightness LEDs making it ideal for extensive lighting applications. The board dimensions are 48mm by 21mm. The board has 4×2 +/- solder pads for termination for several topologies.
Optimal Thermal Management
The board incorporates a standard thermal path through a dielectric layer positioned under the LED thermal pads. This design ensures efficient heat dissipation, critical for maintaining the LED’s junction temperature well below its maximum rated value as per LED manufacturer specifications.
Cooling Recommendations
For optimal thermal performance, it is recommended that the PCB be mounted onto a suitable finned heat sink made of aluminium or copper that is exposed to open air. The mounting can be achieved through various methods, including:
- Pressure sensitive, thermally conductive tape (Recommended)
- Thermal Compound: Requires the use of mechanical fasteners
Ensure that both mating surfaces are clean and flat before assembly to maximize heat transfer efficiency.
Mechanical Stability
Mechanical fasteners are recommended to secure the module robustly, ensuring stable and durable mounting. The base of the LED MCPCB is electrically neutral, which eliminates the need for electrical isolation from the cooling surface.
Optics Integration
This PCB is compatible with leading optics solutions from Ledil, Khatod, and Linear Optics, which can be adhered to the PCB using specific adhesives. This design while useful in generic designs is specific to the Ledil Coral CS19838_CORAL-IP-OW
