Exceptional Flexibility and Compatibility
The MCPCB-XP-ZGE-285 is specifically crafted to accommodate up to 12 LEDs with a base dimension of 3.45 × 3.45mm. This makes it perfectly compatible with leading LEDs such as Cree XPG, XPG2, XPL, XHP35, Nichia NVSL219, and many other 3535 LEDs sharing the same base size. The thoughtful layout of the board allows for multiple driving configurations:
- 12 LEDs in Series
- 6 pairs of 2 LEDs in Series (2 Channel)
Thermal Management
To ensure the longevity and performance of your LEDs, the MCPCB-XP-ZGE-285 features a thermal path with a dielectric layer under the thermal pad of the LED. It’s crucial to provide efficient cooling to maintain the LED’s junction temperature well below the maximum rating, as specified by the LED manufacturers.
Recommended Cooling Solutions:
- Mounting: For optimal thermal management, we recommend mounting the PCB to a suitable finned heat sink (aluminium or copper) that is exposed to open air. You can secure the module using:
- 285 x 20 mm pressure-sensitive, thermally conductive tape (recommended)
- Thermal Compound (requires mechanical fasteners)
Ensure that the mounting surfaces are flat and clean to maximise heat dissipation.

The bottom of the LED MCPCB is electrically neutral, so it is not necessary to electrically isolate the base from the cooling surface.
Optics and Assembly
The MCPCB-XP-ZGE-285 supports optics up to 20mm in diameter, providing flexibility for beam shaping and light distribution. The PCB features pre-drilled holes to match those on compatible optics, allowing for secure and straightforward assembly.
